LANTERN TOURS OCTOBER 6 & 7

Don't forget to sign up for an evening Lantern Tour at Green Ridge!  The Lantern Tours will take place on Tuesday, October 6 and Wednesday, October 7.  The lantern tours are approximately 2 hours in length and admission is $20.  Wear good walking shoes as the tours require walking on uneven ground.  Bring your own flashlight or lantern, these are not provided. Reservations are a MUST for the Lantern Tours since there is limited space available.  Call the cemetery NOW to reserve your spot on the tour. 262-652-1631.

History Walk, 2015 "Park City and Her Namesakes, Part 2"

The Friends of Green Ridge present the History Walk at Green Ridge Cemetery, Saturday & Sunday, October 3 & 4, from 1:00-4:00 pm.  
            The public is welcome to come and meet characters from Kenosha's past - in the form of re-enactors in period clothing who will tell the stories in first-person.  This year's theme is "Park City and Her Namesakes, Part 2" and will feature five individuals who have City parks named for them; these are different than the individuals portrayed last year.
            $5 admission for adults; children under 12 are free with adult. Pre-registration is recommended by calling the cemetery office at 262-652-1631 during office hours, 9:30-3:30.  Tours leave every 15 minutes from the Green Ridge Cemetery entrance, 6604 7th Avenue.  Parking is available along 7th Avenue and 66th Street. Visitors are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. 
             The Kenosha Cemetery Association is the custodian of historic Green Ridge Cemetery, established in 1838 and is still an active cemetery today.

Orson Welles 100th Anniversary Memorial Walk May 30 & 31

The final event for the Citizen Welles Society of Kenosha is the Welles Memorial Walk, to be held Saturday & Sunday, May 30 & 31, 1:00-4:00 pm
Admission is $5 adults; children under 12 free with adult.  Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.  Enter at the 7th Avenue gate.
Three generations of Orson Welles' ancestors are buried at Green Ridge Cemetery.  The Memorial Walk will feature Welles' parents, Richard and Beatrice Ives Welles, his grandmother, Mary Blanche Head Wells Gottfredsen, his grand-aunt Harriet Head Yule, and his great-grandfather, Orson Sherman Head.

Citizen Welles Month-long Celebration Begins Tonight!

    Kick-off celebration features Welles’s film highlights; a new short subject, “GOW: Looking For A Job,” written and directed by Spanish filmmaker Manolo Munguia; and a presentation by Patrick McGilligan, author of the upcoming book, “Young Orson: The Years of Luck and Genius on the Path to ‘Citizen Kane’.” Mayor Keith Bosman, Alderman Jan Michalski, and the Citizen Welles Society of Kenosha welcome you to attend.
    Jean Hoffmann, board president of the Kenosha Cemetery Association will be presenting on the ancestors of Orson Welles who are buried at Green Ridge.       FREE EVENT
